A&F International Students Had Online Courses to Chinese Students during COVIDEpidemic

In order to further promote the university-assisted poverty alleviation and improve the education in Heyang County, Shaanxi Province,A&F international student from Kazakhstan,ZHANAKHMETOVA, DIANA, Wu Shuang as her Chinese name,is deeply concerned withthe primary students during the epidemicand had several online oral English classes for the 35 fifth-gradestudents of Fangzhen Central Primary School in Heyang County.

Wu Shuang and her classes were highly welcomed by students for the pure pronunciation, humorous language, childlike gestures and flexible interactive teaching. After sitting her lessons, many shy students dared to speak simple English with her help and guidance, which effectively uplifted the students’ interest and confidence in learningEnglish. After the class, the students still communicated in the group in an active interaction.

One of her students, Li Yize, said excitedly: "Ilike Miss Wu Shuang very much. Her English pronounces beautifully and I will try to learn from her". Fang Yating, the fifth-grade English teacher in Fangzhen Central Primary School, commented that Wu Shuang had prepared very organized and informative PPT, and Wu’sclasses perfectly match the student's capacity and competency in learning. Wu helped students practise more, and expand their knowledge scope with divergent thinking, which is worth learning by other teachers in the teaching and research.

"I really love China as my second hometown", Wu Shuang holds a profound affection to China though she has just been here for 2 years. Last December, Wu Shuang visited Fangzhen Central Primary School with teachers of A&F International College and had an English class on spot. When she learned that the children could not go to school because of the corona virus epidemic, she decided to do somethingas an old friend. "The children are excellent and polite, I am very touched by their diligence. I would be very pleased to have more courses to deliver more warmth and encouragement", said Wu.
